Were you called a cry-baby as a child, or told that you were too emotional? Do friends and family or even perfect strangers open up to you often? Have you ever wanted to become a counselor, or psychiatrist, or therapist? Do you have an overwhelming urge to help those in need whether it be emotionally, or financially? Do you have difficulty being in and around large groups of people or crowds? When you are around other people do you tend to take on their traits or personality to a degree? If you answer yes to many of these questions you are probably an Empath.
Being an Empath is a gift for some and a curse to others. It all just depends on how you percieve it and how you deal with it.
The wonderful thing is that Empaths are here for a very important purpose. That purpose is to transmute negative energy. Empaths are like sponges, soaking up negative energy from others. Do not confuse that with Energy Vampires who literally feed off people's energy. An Empath brings another persons energy into their own energy field, then the Empath "filters" the energy typically holding onto the negative aspects of that energy. The problem is that Empaths may have a difficult time discarding the negative energy, which can cause emotional and physical problems.
Here are some tips to help with coping and discarding negative energy.
1. Grounding ( imagine tree roots coming out from the bottom of your feet, let the roots spread out into the ground and anchor to the Earth, then ask Mother Earth to take the negative energy from you, imagine it flowing out your feet and into the Earth, then thank Mother Earth for this cleansing, keep the roots in the Earth for as long as you can hold the intent). Another good way to ground is to exercise and this is not limited to working out at the gym. It could be as simple as walking, gardening, or even doing household chores. If you can get outside, go barefoot in the grass. Mother Earth will take those negative energies from you and transmute them too.
2. Shielding (imagine from your heart center, a soft translucent pink light and allow that light to fill your body, then allow the light to expand outside the body about a foot or two) This light is protective and will shield the Aura and you from negative energy.
An excellent tool for Empaths is to wear a clear quartz crystal point, that is open at both ends and not capped off in any way. Wear this quartz as a necklace, and make sure that it sits at the breastbone. This will shield your aura perfectly. This crystal will need to be cleansed everyday, as it will hold negative energy within it. It is very important to wear the crystal at the breastbone and not too high on the chest.
3. Take a salt bath every day (normal table salt is fine, about a handful....do not use Epsom Salts as it is of the wrong energetic vibration for this purpose). Salt baths are so very helpful to rid the Aura and energetic fields of negativity. You may also use salt as a scrub in the shower if a bathtub is not available.
4. Regularly recharge (Take nature walks, talk to someone who understands Empaths and the issues of being an Empath, spend time with pets, take naps (if possible), listen to soft soothing music, do something creative, Draw, Paint, etc...
5. Say positive affirmations like; "I am Loved" "I am beautiful" "I am protected" "I am safe" etc...
6.Monitor yourself (Limit television, newpaper reading, and movies that portray violence, death, or any other negative vibration.) Also, watch your moods especially after talking with or being near anyone who is sad, angry, upset, or negative. You will more than likely soak up their negative vibes.
